MONASTERY OF BRONTOHIO

The Vrontochi Monastery, the richest and strongest monastery of Mystras, included the church of Saints Theodore and Panagia Odegetria. Odigetria, built around 1310, belongs to the so-called mixed type of Mystras, a combination of a three-aisled basilica on the ground floor and a five-domed cruciform inscribed church on the first floor. The architecture and the exquisite art of painting, with which its interior spaces are decorated, are directly linked to the art of Constantinople in the 14th century.
