The Monastery of Evangelistria, part of the female Monastery of Eortakoustis (1617), is located on the road to the beach of Agios Andreas, near Leonidio. Agios Andreas is the Tsakonian capital village of the region with beautiful stone-built houses and lots of greenery. The inhabitants still speak the Tsakonian dialect. The monastery consists of a high tower, possibly of Venetian construction, and a small tile-roofed church dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin. The inscriptions of the renovation of the monastery carried out in 1714 for the church and in 1715 for the tower have been preserved. It celebrates with a festival on November 21.
