In the south of Serres, two (2) kilometers from the village of Domiros, in the Municipality of Podolivos and five (5) kilometers from the foot of Mount Pangaios, in a picturesque location, is the Monastery of Ag. Friday. When and how it was founded is unknown to us. However, it is considered one of the old Monasteries of our country. It was old, a share of I.M. Eikosifonissa and this is confirmed by the two historical plaques that are posted in the Catholic Church of the Monastery. It also has deep roots with the center of Orthodox Monasticism, Mount Athos. Until the year 1924, it was destroyed several times by various conquerors. Until then, the Monastery was male with many Monks. In the year 1924, with the uprooting of Pontus, six came to the Monastery ( 6) Nuns from the Monastery of Ag. Ioannis Prodromou who existed from the Imaura of Pontus. The Monastery was completely in ruins. All that was there was the temple building and some icons. The Nuns brought to the new homeland what they could from the wealth of the heirlooms of I.M. Prodromos (most icons of the iconostasis, Holy vessels, Gospels, Holy Relics, etc.). From there, the Monastery began to be rebuilt. It is the first female monastery in Macedonia. Today there are twenty-two (22) Nuns living in the Monastery who are engaged in iconography, handicrafts, etc. Organized groups as well as other pilgrims can spend the night in its guesthouses. The Monastery celebrates on July 26, in memory of the holy martyr Paraskevi. From there, the Monastery began to be rebuilt. It is the first female monastery in Macedonia.
