The Androa Congregational Monastery of Agios Ioannis the Forerunner is located at the foot of the village of Nikisiani at an altitude of 370 meters and belongs to the Holy Metropolis of Eleftheroupolis. At the beginning of the 19th century, there was a place of pilgrimage, in the place where the church of the Monastery was later built in 1972, for the faithful visiting the neighboring Monastery of Ikosifonissa. Then the church was converted into a Hermitage and under the Metropolitan of Eleftheroupolis Evdokimos, in 1992 the Congregational Monastery of Ag. John the Forerunner. In 2000, the monastery was expanded by building a wing of cells, a bank, reception areas... etc. with Byzantine-style arches and capitals. 2 chapels were also added, of Panagia Pantanassa and Agios Spyridonos (Bishop Trimythoundos the Wonderworker) which bears frescoes "by the hand of Monk Paisios" with representations of Devoted pilgrims. The arched church of Ag. John the Forerunner has a plaster iconostasis and Byzantine-style frescoes painted in 1972. Here is kept the holy icon of Panagia Pantanassa, who celebrates on September 24. Icons from the 18th century are still preserved, as well as holy Gospels, a wood-carved Cross and chalices from the same period. A piece of Holy Wood, Skin and Belt of Saint Spyridon, part of the palm of Saint Stephen the First Martyr, part of a relic of Saint Theodore - Tironos, the Knee of Saint Charalambos the Wonderworker, relics of Saint Kosmas, Pachomios the Neomartyr are also kept in the Monastery premises. ...ms.
