On the eastern side of Agkairia village, 12 km from Parikia and at an altitude of 330 m, is the Monastery of Agioi Theodoros. It is an old-calendar women's monastery that was built on the ruins of an older monastery from the 16th-17th century. The monastery complex, fortress-type with battlements, consists of the temple, a two-story building (cells, hostels) and various ground-floor buildings. The church of Saints Theodoros (Theodore the Soldier and Theodore the Tyrone) is cruciform with a dome in shades of white and blue. The Monastery is in operation and celebrates annually on the first Saturday after Clean Monday.
