Panagia Drosiani is a Byzantine monastery south of the village of Moni, which is one of the oldest in the Balkans (4th or 6th century). From the Monastery, most of it was buried and only in the 70s were the excavations carried out by the archaeological service and it was revealed. Until then the only place that was visible was the main church which was also the most recent. The church is essentially a cluster of four churches. It is of Byzantine style and all its spaces, inside and out, are in the shape of a cross.
The oldest residents of the village report that although another place was initially chosen for the construction of the church, the icon of the Virgin Mary was transferred every night to the specific place. The name "Drosiani" is assumed to have come from the fact that the inhabitants of the village, during a very long period of no rain, addressed the Virgin Mary with liturgies and prayers in order to beg her to rain so that the trees and bushes would not dry out and the inhabitants would live they are farmers par excellence.
