The Monastery of Panagia Iliokalis is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. It is located on the Driscos mountain near Ioannina and is about 14 kilometers from them. It is a fortress-type monastery, built with stone. An old two-story building with cells on the ground floor and stables and storerooms in the basement and its catholicon, a vaulted basilica with a chancel, main church and Agios Vima, and a newer small building are preserved, from which is also the entrance to the temple.
The beautiful hagiographies are from 1888 and the wood-carved iconostasis is the work of Anastasios Baladimas from Ioannina (1766). The village of Iliokali, one of the so-called countryside villages of Ioannina, takes its name from the old monastery.
