The Holy Monastery of Theotokos of Magoulades is located in the area of Magoulades in the north of Corfu. It is one of the oldest and largest Monasteries of Corfu. Its foundation dates back to the first quarter of the 10th century. Over time, the Monastery experienced periods of prosperity and decline and was linked to the local Corfu history.

Its once large property, its library, sacred relics, shares and sacred temples, give a minimal picture of its spiritual and social contribution.

The Monastery, due to the importance and importance of its architectural ensemble and the relics it keeps, has been classified as a Historic Preservation Monument.

In the year 1700, the Monastery was completely renovated, expanded and experienced a new period of prosperity.

It is worth noting that the wealth of the icons of the Monastery is important, especially those that were chronicled by the iconographers Dimitrios Foskalis, Georgios Chrysoloras and Spyridon Sperantza (mid 18th century). In 1800, the Russian Army camped in the Monastery and carried out interventions in its building complex. During that period, Admiral Theodoros Usakof also visited and stayed in the Monastery.

The Holy Monastery celebrates the 15th of August, the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
