On the south-west side of Corfu, in the area of the lake of Korission and near the village of Chlomos of the Municipality of Meliteia, is the Pantokratoros Monastery of Korission. The first inhabitants of the area were Byzantine mercenary soldiers (14th century) who founded the traditional settlement of Korissia. The foundation of the renovated temple of Pantokrator dates back to the 14th-15th century. It is a one-room temple with a semicircular arch and an entrance on the north side (which is later than the original temple). In the west wall there was an entrance leading to the frescoed narthex, which was destroyed. Inside, several layers of frescoes dating from the end of the 15th century are preserved in poor condition. To the east of the temple, a part of the fortification with battlements is preserved. In the precincts of the Monastery, you can see the newer church of Pantokrator as well as various semi-demolished buildings (warehouses, auxiliary spaces).
