Towards the west of the city of Corfu, at a distance of about 5 km, is the picturesque village of Europoulos. To the right and on the hill of the village is the monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos Evangelistria, which was built by the founder of the 1st Monastery of the Theotokos Platyteras, the hieromonk Chrysanthos Syropoulos, in the years 1746-1747.
Relations with the monastery and the fathers of the monastery had been developed by the Kapodistria family, whose farmhouse "Kukouritsa" is adjacent, where today it functions as a museum. The monastery preserves valuable icons, precious utensils, sacred vestments as well as items donated by the Kapodistrias family and the First Governor of Greece John himself.
