The Monastery of Agios Ioannis is located near the settlement of Marmaros, in the meadow of Ropa, about 2 km from Sidari. The settlement was named Marmaro from the production of marble (tuffstone) that was placed on the doors and windows. The founding date of the Monastery is not known. In a document from 1737, the names of 8 hieromonks are mentioned as brothers of the Holy Church of Agios Ioannis. The Monastery, which is now in ruins, preserves the church of Agios Ioannis and the stone bell tower with a double spire. The temple is quite tall and rectangular with windows on the facade and a sloping roof.
