Saint Raphael who, after repeated appearances in the dreams of a believer, revealed to him the story of his martyrdom and thus "revealed" the hidden history of the Monastery of Karyonas, located among the olive groves of Thermi. His bones were found in the place he indicated, as well as the bones of Deacon Nikolaos and little Irene who were martyred together with him at the hands of the Turks in 1463.
Today the monastery, which was rebuilt in memory of the Holy Martyrs Raphael, Nikolaos and Irene, was developed in a large monastic community.
