Northwest of the village of Massari, on Kammyrioti hill is the Holy Monastery of Taxiarch Michael or Kammyri Monastery. It was built in the 12th AD. century as a commemoration of the miracle in Chonai of Asia Minor. The monastic complex includes the temple of Taxiarchis, the impressive bell tower to the right of the temple, guest houses, cells, a large dining room, an oven. The now-dissolved Monastery was also visited by King Paul I with his wife Frederikis. The church is cruciform with a dome, has a gilded iconostasis and is not frescoed. The image of the Brigadier stands out, in its place there used to be another image that, due to its ferocity, scared pregnant women, causing them to miscarry. The monastery celebrates on September 6.
