At a distance of about 2 kilometers from the settlement of Aperi, to the south, is the monastery of Ag. Georgiou Vasson or Vatson, which is the largest and most important of Karpathos.
The majestic monastic complex, with its well-kept buildings, is also a wonderful terrace from where you can gaze at the landscape of Karpathos and the sea. In the past, a school and an orphanage operated in this historic monastery of Karpathos, while today the monastery library is rich.
