Naoussa is the capital of the prefecture of Imathia.
The name of the city has its roots in Catherine of Alexandria, a Christian martyr, who lived in the 4th century.
Today the city is one of the most dynamic urban areas of Macedonia and all of Greece. Nowadays, the development of Naoussa is significantly hindered by the presence of neighboring Thessaloniki, which absorbs to an overwhelming degree all the activities of the wider region.
Nevertheless, due to the very large tourist traffic that exists in the prefecture of Imathia, the city is noticeably in the foreground. The city has one of the most beautiful parks in Greece, which also has very impressive fountains and especially in the summer it is an oasis of coolness and relaxation, especially during the very hot hours of the day.
