On the western slopes of Mount Falakros (23 km from Drama) is the cave of Mara or Kokkinogeion of Drama, where the sources of the Aggitis river, a tributary of Nestos, are located. The waters of Aggitis follow an underground route inside the cave, making it an attraction that every visitor must explore. Stalactites with wonderful colors, strange shapes and sizes as well as stalagmites present in it, give a truly beautiful image to anyone who finds themselves there. Near the entrance of the cave, which is also the source of the river, is the "mill hall" with the water mill from the beginning of the 20th century. which supplied the surrounding settlements with drinking water. Excavations in the cave brought to light findings from the Neolithic era, such as tools and pottery fragments. The cave can be visited in spring, when the water level allows it.
