The picturesque village of Silimna, built on the slopes of Mainalos, at an altitude of 900 m and at a distance of 6 km from Tripoli.
On the hill of Silimna, there are remains of a medieval castle.
The place where the castle was built is of strategic importance. There, after all, Theodoros Kolokotronis chose to move the camp of Valtetsi and in the same place the Greek forces (under the leadership of Plapoutas and Grigoriadis) clashed with Ibrahim's army in 1825.
