The Castle of Monolithos is located on Attavyreio Oros, near the village of Monolithos, on the edge of a steep "monolith". It was built by the Knights of the Order of Saint John, in the 14th century, in order to protect the villages from pirates. The fortification at this point existed from the classical years until 1476. The outline of the fortress is preserved in a fairly good condition. Inside the castle enclosure, cisterns, parts of the towers and arcades, as well as the church of Agios Panteleimon are preserved. It is a small arched temple with a wooden light-colored iconostasis and a ceiling decoration of a background dotted with stars.
