( Pagasai )
(See also Dimitriada)
City of Pelasgiotidos and port of Fera already from the 7th and 6th centuries BC. The city is mentioned in the myth of the Argonautic expedition. It flourished in archaic times thanks to the sanctuary and oracle of Pagasaios Apollo, near the Xeria river. In 293 BC settled in Dimitriada. Walls with two building phases are preserved. The oldest (first half of the 4th century BC) descends from the hill of Prophet Ilias to the sea and surrounds the port. 69 of its square towers survive. The newest Hellenistic wall (3rd century BC) is related to the fortification of Demetrias. Perhaps the city was abandoned after the settlement.
