On the Boeotian coast of Evia is the municipality of Avlida, whose seat is the town of Vathy. The name of the municipality is due to the ancient Avlida, where there was the famous Sanctuary of Artemis. The Prehistoric and Historic Court is located in the northeastern part of the municipality, in an area defined by the Megalo Vounos and the bays of Mikros and Megalos Vatheos. It was named after the daughter of the first king of Boeotia. The excavations carried out in the area (1955-1961) brought to light many important findings.
