Aliki is a seaside resort in the prefecture of Boeotia and one of the most beautiful locations of the Gulf of Alkyonides. In Aliki, which in ancient times was called Tifa or Sifai, Hercules was worshipped, in whose honor a sanctuary was created. In this important area, in prehistoric times, the Argo, the ship that carried Jason on the Argonautic expedition, was built. According to Homer, the Thespians, to whom Aliki then belonged, started from here for the Trojan War. It is a glorious city with great activity in the Mycenaean years, a large commercial center and a remarkable historical route. In the area is also the Acropolis of the ancient Siphons, the fortifications of which are preserved to this day.
