The sanctuary of Poseidon, site of the pan-Hellenic Isthmian games, is located in the current village of Kyra-Vrysi. The Doric temple of Poseidon was built in the 7th century BC and since then it was renovated several times until the 2nd century. A.D. The sanctuary was destroyed by the Romans in 146 BC. and reconstituted after 44 BC. In the SE. traces of the one-winged temple of the hero Palaimonos-Melikertos are preserved, with whose cult the foundation of the Isthmian games is connected. It was built on the starting point of the oldest stadium that preserves traces of the yspligos system for the simultaneous start of street athletes. The stage of the Hellenistic and Roman times is located further south of the sanctuary. To the N. of the sanctuary, ruins of a theater (classical to Roman times) and Roman baths with two-color mosaics depicting a sea troupe. Local Museum.
