The Archaeological site of Ancient Elis is one of the most interesting proposals for the visitor's tour. Ancient Elis was the host city of the Olympic Games. The ancient state of Elis developed in the NW Peloponnese, staying in the foreground for a long time as it had taken over the guardianship of the Panhellenic sanctuary of Olympia and the preparation and organization of the Olympic Games. The excavations show that the area of Elis was inhabited, even as a small agricultural settlement, from the Proto-Hellenic era (c. 1100-700 BC) that have been found in the area.
