ANCIENT ANTHINI (Archaeological Site) - Arcadia

On the beach of Agios Andreas and next to the sea there is a rocky hill, the "Island of Agios Andreas", with remains of an ancient fortified settlement. Remains of fortification walls can be seen next to the access road to the area and on the hillside. According to the prevailing opinion, the settlement is identified with the ancient city of Anthini. Parts of the outer enclosure with towers from the 5th-4th c. BC. Later the city was moved lower towards the sea, where late Roman ruins and additional fortification from Byzantine times are preserved.
Near the castle, a half-ruined arched stone bridge is preserved.
