CASTLE OF LARISA

CASTLE OF LARISA - Argolis

It is a castle fixed on the mountain, which bears the same name as it and at an altitude of 289 meters above sea level. The view from the castle is magnificent. The entire Argolis stretches out in front of the visitor.
The castle was built during prehistoric times and is newer than the fortifications of Aspidos. Its base in some places has boulders, which remind us of cyclopean walls. In the 5th and 6th c. the Argives repair and complete the wall, following the older traces. Important parts of that era are preserved in the northern and western parts.
The castle of Larissa in Argos, has historically been connected with the revolution of 1821. Today, although it is neglected, it is occasionally used for cultural events.
