In the southern part of the settlement of Epanomi is the archaeological site of Metochi Kritsanoni or Agia Anastasia. The seaside settlement of Epanomi, located 30 km southeast of Thessaloniki, dates back to the Neolithic period. In the area, 8 tumbas (gylofos) of the prehistoric era were discovered. One of them is the tomb of Kritsani (or Kritsiana) where shells from the Late Mycenaean period were found. The Metohi of Kritsani was founded in 1530 and belonged to the Monastery of Agia Anastasia.
