ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF AGIA PARASKEVI

(Anthems)

It was located near the homonymous river, in a very fertile plain. Outside the community of Agia Paraskevi, an extensive cemetery with 500 graves (570 BC - early 5th century BC) was investigated. Among the finds stand out the weapons and jewelry, ten Chiakian clay calyxes, the local imitations of Attic black-figure vases and the local gray pottery. Some are exhibited in the Museum of Thessaloniki.

A two-chambered Macedonian tomb (end of the 4th century BC) was also excavated with its marble double-leaf door intact (in the Museum of Thessaloniki).
