( Sindos)
In the area of a modern camp, on a trapezoidal hill, an ancient settlement with its heyday in the geometric times (9th - 8th century BC) and archaic times (7th - 6th century BC) was located and is being excavated. Brick buildings, metalworking areas and pottery kilns have come to light, as well as plenty of pottery. Perhaps it was founded by Euboes as early as the 9th century BC as a commercial station for the exploitation of the gold that existed in the neighboring river Ekhedoros (today's Gallikos). The city is probably identified with ancient Sindo. The numerous finds of her cemetery (560 - 460/50 BC) are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki
