Most of the ancient port of the island is submerged in the sea due to sedimentation due to the geological changes of the area and the eruptions of the Thera volcano. At the site of Katalimatsa there are also remains of ancient buildings (young and settlement). The ancient port was connected by a road to the ancient city, traces of which have been uncovered on Kastelli Hill
