In the area of Aigialis (Gialis) which was a colony of the Milesians and one of the three cities of the ancient commonwealth, there are remains of Roman fortifications on the beach and an ancient sanctuary on the site of the Panagitsa church.
Also in the same area one can visit Tholaria, where an ancient wall was found, the ancient acropolis and the Roman tombs on the Vigla hill, with traces of earlier times.
