In today's Thronos village, at a distance of 33 kilometers SE of Rethymno, in the position of Kefala, archaeological research has revealed remains of the ancient city of Syvritos.
Findings from the excavations, including coins from the ancient city, are exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Rethymnon.
