Limni

This is where the ancient Elymnion is located, which was destroyed in 427 BC. from an earthquake and was re-inhabited only in the late Hellenistic times (2nd - 1st century BC). In 890 it was plundered by pirates and deserted.
Port of local importance. Remains of a secular building (5th - 6th century AD) with rich mosaic floors, architectural members and sculptures. A room of the building that ends in an arch is today the chapel of Zoodochos Pigi. Further north, in Kastria, remains of an ancient settlement that was renovated in the early Christian period.
