Edipsos

The thermal springs of Edipsos are mentioned for the first time in the 4th century BC and were related to the cult of Heracles. Particularly popular place for spa therapy and recreation, especially in the Roman period (1st century BC to 2nd century AD). The ancient city is located in the current Loutra Edipsos. Sporadic ruins of bathing facilities (2nd - 3rd century AD) were discovered near the beach. The remains of a Roman building were associated with Heraklion. Copper and iron processing facilities were also found.
