At the site of Varka, in the fertile plain of Psachna, a seaside settlement of the latest Neolithic era (5300 - 4300 BC) was found. In the wider area, surface finds from the Mycenaean era.

Early Christian sculptures (5th century AD) built into the Byzantine church of the Monastery of Agios Ioannis Kalyvitis. South of the Byzantine church of the Holy Trinity remains of an early Christian chapel with a mosaic floor.
