In Livadia, on Kastello, an adjacent low hill, prehistoric remains and part of a wall from the Classical or Hellenistic period have been identified.
Also in Livadia, on the site of the newer church of Agios Panteleimon, an early Christian basilica was built, from which parts of the mosaic floor and cloisters are visible today. Some of the most important frescoed churches of the island, such as Agios Nikolaos (13th century) and Sotiras (1430) are located in Livadia.
