Ancient Kameiros is one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes. It is located on the northwest side of the island near the cape of Agios Minas and is built according to the Hippodamian system on three levels. It consists of the acropolis on the hill, the settlement on the second level and lower down the Hellenistic temple, the Doric fountain, the market and the precinct of the altars. Its water system, since the Hellenistic era, includes wells, underground reservoirs and clay irrigation pipes. The ruins date back to the 3rd century BC. and in its archaeological site the visitor can see the ancient Agora, a Doric temple and some arches. Many of the findings of ancient Kameiros are today in the Louvre, the British Museum, as well as the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes. Kamiros, is an ideal destination for lovers of archaeology and history and highlights the history of the island, in a unique way.
