The ruins of the ancient city extend on a rocky elongated promontory, at the end of which is the cavernous church of Agios Ioannis. A section of the fortified precinct of isostructural masonry (4th century BC) is preserved at a great height, also chamber-shaped carved tombs and near the path that leads to Brukunda a monumental carved tomb decorated with relief arches and swords. The remains of three basilicas attest to the continuation of habitation during early Christian times. Three more basilicas have been identified further north, in the natural harbor of Tristomos, probably the seat of the Parodian sanctuary of Poseidon Porthmion in antiquity.
