Porto Rafti / Port of Mesogaia
It served the communication of the Mediterranean plain with the Cyclades. The remains of houses and fortifications on the Koroni peninsula are related to a Ptolemaic military base in the first half of the 3rd century BC.
SW. of Porto Rafti, in the place of the abandoned village of Merenda, the municipality of Myrrinountos is located. The finds from cemeteries in the area are in the Vravrona Museum, a Kouros and a Koris in the National Archaeological Museum. In the area of Drivlia, remains of an early Christian settlement. A three-aisled early Christian basilica exists on the site of the church of Agia Kyriaki, which preserves part of the sculpture of the diacosmos (5th century). In the same area, a complex of baths, a philosophical school, houses and tombs. 6th - 7th century pottery has been found on Raftis islet. A.D.
